We started passing out T-shirts today. Surprisingly it went rather smoothly!! There wasn't a mad rush of people, but a steady stream. I think about 1/3 of the people ended up picking up their shirts this morning, and we talked to a bunch about picking them up tomorrow. We have a system going. I ask for their last name and highlight them off the list, Andrew gives them the "do/don't bring to Relay and Reminders" cards that we made for everybody, while Mina grabs the right size shirt. It was a good system, and worked rather well!! We hand out T-shirts again tomorrow morning, and then on Friday during 7th period (yahoo for Mom writing me a note so I can skip :D) we are hand delivering the T-shirts that didn't get picked up. But we aren't telling people we will hand deliver, because we really want them to come pick them up on their own ;)
Cy-Falls is responsible for doing the Fight Back Ceremony on Friday. Really, it's a "let's not be sad anymore, let's fight back" hoorah to boost the morale (this follows the solemn Luminaria Ceremony where everybody is somber). We have some of the cheerleaders going (the ones that haven't let the popularity go to their heads.. aka the ones I can stand) and the state-known drumline. Then a few polo kids are doing skits, it's going to be really cool I think!! And a good way for everybody to get involved.
At the event, they line the tracks with paper-sacks that have been decorated with people's names of people who have fought cancer, or are fighting right now. They fill the sack with sand and then put a candle in it, so at night the track is lit. We are making one for Matthew Johnson's mom who just finished chemo (HOORAY!) and then I am making one for Grandma Suddendorf. I still need to do that tonight so I can have that done for Mina tomorrow.
Tomorrow will just consist of getting EVERYTHING ready to go so Friday runs smoothly!!
Only 2 more days! I'm getting excited!!
